Additional Info: We are a one lawyer, private law firm mostly working on Real Property transactions, and Wills and Estate files. The business has been operating since 2003 serving clients mostly in Queens County.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will cover reception duties as well as maintain the office structures (mail, couriers, supplies, billing, file management, accounting, etc), and draft documents such as wills, agreements of purchase and sale and other, legal basics.
There are a lot of aspects to the job from normal reception duties to providing follow up with clients and some accounting work. The requirements will vary depending on the abilities of the employee and hopefully will expand to include a large range of administrative and legal tasks.
Ultimately, the goal is to have the lawyer doing as much purely legal work as possible and the staff person doing as much as they can to cover all other aspects of the day to day running of the business; including the administrative duties of moving legal matters ahead.
Previous experience and training would be excellent but training can also be provided. The ability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures are really the assets that are needed for this position.
The position also involves working alone quite a bit as the lawyer in this case is a parent who tries to be home most days after school. The person who gets the job will have to be effective at working with little or no supervision.
