JOB TITLE: CARPENTER
REPORTS TO: Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Nova Scotia Based company is presently recruiting to fill two “Carpenters” positions in the Town of Bridgewater. We are beginning construction of a large apartment complex in October 2020 and are seeking two dedicated workers to assist in the completion of the estimated one-year project. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working with Management and the Construction team to complete the project on time and in a safe manner
• Work closely with management to organize and complete the project according to timelines
• Bring a Safety First attitude to the worksite and adhere to all OH & S procedural guidelines

MAIN FUNCTIONS:
• Follow blueprints and building plans
• Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials
• Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
• Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes
• Work closely with other construction helpers

Required Skills:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have reliable transportation a valid NS drivers license and basic carpentry tools
• Preference to Journeyman status or 3rd year apprentices
• Preference to someone with two to three years of carpentry experience
• Certifications, e.g. Fall arrest, Scaffolding, preferred but willing to train

• Strength Requirements:
Physically Demanding employment requiring climbing, lifting and physical duties

• Work Environment:
Working in all weather conditions at construction sites
