Responsibilities:

Role: Reporting to the Hub Manager, the CBI will be responsible for researching, developing and implementing a Business Needs Assessment survey for the purpose of identifying rural business needs and gaps in services. The CBI will also be responsible for developing a Business Support Supports resource tool to be made available in electronic copy to participating businesses, the North Queens Hub and the North Queens Board of Trade. The CBI will further be responsible to work with community partners and businesses to develop and host two rural business events.
Duties:
• Research and develop appropriate needs assessment survey questions
• Conduct needs assessment survey via in person and telephone interviews
• Compile and present needs assessment results to the Hub and Board of Trade and make available for other potential stakeholders
• Create a resource or business directory of the identified businesses in the target area
• Research and compile a resource of available business supports and make available in electronic form
• Identify and network with stakeholders and community partners as needed
• Organize and host one business networking event
• Organize and host one business support/resource tradeshow event
• Attend community business events and networking meetings as needed
• Participate on or attend government or organizational committee meetings related to rural business support and development

Required Skills:

Qualifications:
• Must be EI eligible, or have received EI benefits in the last 5 years https://novascotia.ca/employmentnovascotia/programs/documents/JCP-Fact-sheet_English.pdf
• Computer skills: MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel – comfort with and willingness to learn additional skills as needed; we intend for this project to be completely paperless
• Desktop publishing and/or graphic design tools such as Canva, or a willingness to learn
• Internet research skills
• Social media skills, use/knowledge of web design platforms an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Event planning experience an asset
• Education: Completion of high school, some college/university to completed college/university
• Related work experiences an asset
• Eagerness to learn and grow, keen interest in rural economic development
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work independently
• Willingness to travel within target area and access to reliable transportation
Rate of Pay:
• The successful candidates will receive EI benefits at the maximum rate
